About Lyonville

Lyonville is a hamlet of about 200 residents located in the Shire of Hepburn, Victoria. East of Daylesford on the Trentham road, the town takes its name from James Lyon who arrived in the Glenlyon district in the1860s.

Lyonville sits in the Wombat Forest, between the headwaters of the Coliban and Loddon Rivers. Originally, Lyonville was established as a timber cutting town to supply timber to the goldfields to build mining structures and housing.
