In 2009

Our first community planning meeting was held on 15 March 2009 following the Muskvale fires.  It’s timely to reflect on what Lyonville has achieved in the last 10 months...
♦ Sue Moses was instrumental in forming the Lyonville Planning Group and establishing a residents action plan.  Sue has applied for and obtained grants to renovate and upgrade the hall to make it more useable, especially in winter.  The building work will commence in the next few months.
♦ We have a newsletter and website ( www.lyonville.org.au ).
♦ We have a noticeboard and a fire rating notice companion.
♦ Six of our residents have become CFA members.
♦ We have a new and expanded Hall Committee.
♦ The inaugural Lyonville Fireman’s Ball will be held on 20 March.  This event is important for all Lyonville residents as it is to raise funds for a new fire truck.  Under the umbrella of the Trentham CFA, the truck will be located at Lyonville to defend our local area.  See article in this newsletter for further details on the fundraiser.
♦ The Radio Springs Hotel opened at Easter, and our thanks to Ken and Jacqui for providing a focus and gathering place for the village.
 
This is a great outcome, Lyonvillians, and all in 10 months!
We need continuing support to maintain these programs and to initiate new ones.  The Planning Group recommenced meetings on 18 January to evaluate our progress and discuss plans for the coming year.  The Planning Group will also welcome new members Allan Lever and Paul Ulrich.
